Catherine Keske earned her Ph.D. from Colorado State University in agricultural and resource economics and her second Master’s degree from the Colorado School of Mines in Mineral Economics. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Colorado State University, and the founder of Natural Elements Economic Consulting. In her early career she was a trainer and executive in the medical device industry, after receiving her first Master’s degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences from Vanderbilt University. Her love for teaching and passion for natural resources prompted her to change careers and to focus on natural resource and environmental economics.
Dr. Keske has written on a variety of topics. As an environmental and natural resource economist, she has become known for her work and writings in land economics, including the areas of conservation easements and recreation. She is currently involved in two large scale natural resource research projects on the impact of land preservation on rural communities and the economic value of Colorado mountain ranges. She is also involved in a project to examine how women address risk in agricultural enterprises, and she is on the Board of Directors of the Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) in Evergreen, Colorado.
