The
Schoolyard
LTER program allows for a collaboration between SGS-LTER scientists and
K-12 students. Students conduct research on or near their school
grounds while they learn scientific methods, specific research protocols,
and the importance of long term research. Many of the studies are
modeled after projects being conducted at the SGS-LTER field site.
The Schoolyard LTER program has been funded by The National Science
Foundation since 1998 and many sites in the LTER Network support
Schoolyard LTER programs. To
find out more about other Schoolyard programs, visit the LTER
Network website.
