Remember that the queries you submit will be subject
to the rules of set theory. AND takes precedence over OR such that a request with
three keywords will be executed as follows: soil or (carbon and nitrogen). The
search engine will return all datasets with soil as a keyword or any datasets with BOTH
carbon and nitrogen as keywords.
-
You may type more than one keyword in each input box, but realize that the query will search for that entire string. So if you typed "carbon
nitrogen" your results will only show files with the keyword "carbon
nitrogen". A better method would be to enter each keyword in a separate input box. However, if the
string is a logical unit such as "soil organic matter" you could
include the entire string in one input box.
-
If you are having difficulty finding datasets try using more general keywords, or keywords without suffixes. For example, if microclimatology does not
return any datasets try climate, not climatology. Also, always be on the lookout
for typos.
